Martinkus was my maternal grandfather's birth name. Sauka was my maternal grandmother's maiden name. They immigrated to Massachusetts from the village of Luokė, in Telšiai County. This site documents everything I've learned on this life changing expedition.

Olga Mary Martinkus

My Aunt Olga was the oldest of the three children in the Martinkus family. She was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on 1 October 1917. The family lived in Brockton until sometime in the mid 1930s, when they moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts. I have Massachusetts Marriage Index that says she was married sometime in 1939 as listed in Cambridge, Mass. After that, the trail goes cold most probably because of her married name, which I don't know. Even any notification of her death is eluding me. So I'll post her photo here. I don't know anything about the photo - when or where it was taken. Aunt Olga looks relatively young, but other than that, I can't make any assumptions about her. Except that she looks like her sister, my mother Alma Shanks, and by proxy like me. A happy coincidence!
